Barbara Ann Davis
, JD, practices Collaborative Law, mediation and meeting facilitation in all dispute contexts -- family, business, employment, community, neighborhood, and multi-party.

Born in Miami, Florida, with a B.A. in Communication Studies and law degree from University of Florida, the mountains of western North Carolina called her in 1979, and she answered.

Barbara is currently a member of the North Carolina and Florida Bar Associations and the Association for Conflict Resolution.   She started out practicing law as a public defender and legal services attorney, gaining valuable adversarial trial experience.  Then, in a quality of life decision coinciding with raising a child, she altered her career focus in 1984, and now helps others pursue peaceful resolution of their differences, by agreement and collaboration, through respectful problem-solving processes.

Though it’s not always easy, she takes great satisfaction from being “of service”  -helping people decrease the stress in their lives, make decisions for themselves and their children about their future, and begin to heal emotionally.

Barbara has been many things:  Dispute Resolution Commission of NC commission member; founding Executive Director of The Mediation Center (an Asheville community dispute resolution center); co-author of numerous books, articles and school curricula; Board member at an acupuncture school, domestic violence agency, environmental center; college teacher; contra dance musician; and Cape Breton step-dancer.  And last but not least, cyclist … in 2003 she rode her bike cross country from St. Augustine to San Diego as part of a 5-member team raising funds for women’s cancer programs in local communities.
