Is Collaborative Law only for divorces?

The short answer is No, collaborative law isn't just for family law. It is a peaceful approach to resolving conflict that can be used in many types of cases.

Collaborative law seems to work best in matters where there is a continuing relationship, although there is no requirement of a continuing relationship. It can be used in family situations other than divorces--for example, resolving a will contest. Or it can be used in an employment situation where an employee and an employer have a dispute or where two co-workers are in conflict. Neighbors with property disputes can use collaborative law too.

We are experimenting with using Collaborative Law in Medical Malpractice, real estate disputes, and other civil matters. If you are interested in learning more about the use of Collaborative Law in these settings, contact one of our lawyer members.
